They can offer a maker innovative options to explore with their accustomed materials and techniques; at times present a designer a means of control; advance a range of new ornaments and motifs to work with; and impart a new understanding of the relation between functional and decorative form. This exhibition will look at the impact of pattern in the arts using the University Art Galleries collections.

- Nov 1211:30 AMTexas Tribal Buffalo ProjectLucille Contreras (Lipan Apache), founder and CEO of Texas Tribal Buffalo Project (TTBP) will give a talk about the ways in which the TTBP, a non-profit organization, helps facilitate tribal sovereignty through economic development and environmentally sustainable practices, including regenerating soil and promoting a diversity of plant growth through its buffalo herd. She will also talk about how the buffalo ranch, located halfway between San Antonio and Houston, helps reconnect Indigenous people (and all Texans) to the buffalo.
