- Jun 304:00 PMResearch Statements for Fellowship ApplicationsThe financial landscape of graduate school funding can be confusing. This session busts the myth that grad school means debt, provides an overview of the role of external fellowships like NSF GRFP (https://www.nsfgrfp.org/) and NDSEG (https://ndseg.sysplus.com/), and—most importantly—covers how to write a research statement that clearly communicates your proposed work to reviewers who are in your discipline but not experts in your specific area. The session demystifies the panel review process, explains how scoring works (Z-scores, discrepancy reports), and provides concrete strategies for structuring a compelling research plan. Research Statements for Fellowship Applications is part of the Graduate and Professional School's Summer 2026 Writing Boot Camp Series (https://grad.tamu.edu/professional-development/graduate-school-writing-boot-camp.html). REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. For more info or to register, visit our registration portal (https://gradconnect.tamu.edu/register/writingbootcampsummer2026).
