- Sep 163:00 PMSuicide Awareness & Prevention PresentationSuicide is one of the leading causes of death in college-aged individuals. The severity of suicidal crisis and existence of stigma can limit one's ability to or comfortability in reaching out to campus resources. Similarly, many individuals want to support peers and loved ones in crisis but may not know when or how to help. Increasing awareness of the signs, symptoms, and statistics related to suicide can enable us to support both ourselves and our loved ones. This presentation aims to give an overview of the importance of suicide prevention, ways to identify signs of need, basic skillsets for supporting someone in a crisis, and resources available both on and off campus. This presentation can be a beneficial introduction or supplement to more in-depth gatekeeper presentations.

- Sep 17All dayPattern RecognitionThe concept of pattern in the arts provides artists with tools that can limit creativity or suggest new avenues for exploration. They can offer a maker innovative options to explore with their accustomed materials and techniques; at times present a designer a means of control; advance a range of new ornaments and motifs to work with; and impart a new understanding of the relation between functional and decorative form. This exhibition will look at the impact of pattern in the arts using the University Art Galleries collections.
