Event Info  Our Speakers: Angelina Baltazar is a first-year Neuroscience Ph.D. student at the University of Pennsylvania, studying and creating treatments for neurodegenerative diseases. She recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering as an Undergraduate Research Scholar, Honors Fellow, and recipient of the Robert Gates - Muller Family Outstanding Senior Award. Outside of research, Angelina enjoys baking, running, and advocating for student success initiatives. Dr. Suma Datta retired in August 2024 as a tenured full professor in the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics. Suicide is a leading cause of death among college-aged individuals, yet stigma and crisis severity can make it difficult to seek help. Many want to support others but may not know when or how to intervene.This presentation increases awareness of suicide signs, symptoms and statistics while providing basic skills to support someone in crisis.
