Lorefest Day Five: Lorefest Research Symposium and Closing Performance

    The symposium from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is an academic outlet for anyone interested in presenting research or discussing creative works related to local/glocal folklore. It will feature keynote speaker Dr. Sandy Stone, a professor emerita of communication at the Department of Radio, Television and Film at the University of Texas. Faculty and students from other universities will also present papers on folklore-themed topics.  At 7 p.m., "ABYSS" is a physical and sonic performance intervention examining our bodies' ontological relationship to phantasmagoria and folklore by slowdanger, recipients of the inaugural New Work Development Artist Residency. Drawing from lore of the Goatman and the Lake Worth Monster, the performance will feature a live sound and physical performance set by slowdanger directors anna thompson and taylor knight, and wearable art by Emily Bujnoch. Admission is free but is a ticket is required, available on the MSC Box Office website.
