WELCOME TO AGGIELAND

Faculty, staff, students, and community members are invited to attend the panel discussion Democracy by Design: Voting and Redistricting on January 21, featuring panelists Dr. Eric Maskin (Harvard University, Nobel Laureate), Dr. Jonathan Katz (California Institute of Technology), and Dr. Nicholas Stephanopoulos (Harvard University). Dr. Maskin, who shared the 2007 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, has advanced the field through his work in game theory, contract theory, social choice, and political economy, influencing how markets and institutions are designed. Dr. Katz, an elected fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, is a political scientist and statistician whose work has transformed the study of elections and democratic processes by bringing rigorous data and statistical evidence to questions of voting and representation. Dr. Stephanopoulos, a prominent scholar of election and constitutional law, has shaped national debates over voting rights and redistricting by developing empirical approaches to evaluating the fairness of electoral maps. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Soren Jordan, Associate Professor of Political Science at Texas A&M University, who specializes in ideological polarization and public opinion. The panel event, sponsored by the Private Enterprise Research Center and the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy, is free to attend and will be held at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. A catered reception will begin at 5:00 PM, with the panel discussion starting at 5:45 PM.
