Women’s Golf Tied for Third after Round Two of Bryan Regional
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The No. 12 Texas A&M women's golf team fired a 2-under 286 in the second round on Tuesday at Traditions Club and was tied for third at the Bryan Regional heading into the final day.
"We played better today," head coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "Our finish wasn't as clean as we would have wanted, but Zoe and Adela had big rounds. We are hoping that we learned something today that we can carry into tomorrow. I am proud that we have a chance to play for a title tomorrow on our home course."
The team was tied for third with LSU at 3-under 573 thru 36 holes. SMU (-6) and Clemson (-4) were first and second on the team leaderboard. The Aggies were 12 strokes above sixth-place Vanderbilt, which they will need to be within the top five to advance to the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Adela Cernousek went 4-under 68 in round two. The junior started the day with a bogey but knocked down five birdies the rest of the round to keep her in contention for the individual title. The Antibes, France, native was two shots back of LSU's Ingrid Lingblad for the lead.
Jennie Park and Zoe Slaughter both went even-par and tied for 14th and 33rd, respectively. Blanca Fernández García-Poggio shot 2-over 74 and held onto a share of 21st to wrap up the second day. Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio shot 5-over 77 and tied for 21st as well.
